Common Questions

Do I need any herbal experience to attend a class?

No experience is necessary. Sweet Fern classes are designed to be welcoming and approachable whether you're brand new to herbalism or have been working with plants for years.

What should I bring to a class?

For all classes, we would suggest a note book for taking notes or drawing diagrams. 
Outdoor classes, you will want a water bottle, bug and sun protection, good walking shoes, comfortable clothing, and layers (weather changes easily by lake superior) 

What is included in the cost of a class?

All classes include the cost of materials unless otherwise stated.   
Each Class description will tell you specifically what is included.  
  • Make and take classes, You will go home with a hand made herbal product. 
  • Soap Class, you will receive your soap 4-6 weeks after the class.  This is the time it needs to cure and be safe to handle. 
  • Lecture style class, you will go home with knowledge and a copy of the slides ( if used will be emailed to you.  
  • Online classes, are recorded and you will receive a link to a private YouTube video recording. WE ask that you respect our knowldege and not sahre this link. 

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made at least two days before the class are eligible for a full refund. For example, if your class is Friday evening, you may cancel through Wednesday and receive a full refund.
Cancellations made after that time are non-refundable. If you're unable to attend, we'll be happy to email you class notes and/or a recording when those materials are part of the class.
We understand that life happens and will always do our best to accommodate individual circumstances when we can.

Can I book a private class or gathering?

Absolutely! Whether you want to learn how to make an herbal product, explore a favorite herbal topic, or gather your friends for an evening of facials and botanical mocktails, we love creating private experiences at Sweet Fern Apothecary.
We can work with you to create an experience that fits your group, occasion, or interests. Private gatherings, business groups, and team experiences can be hosted at the apothecary, and off-site events are available as well.
